Hypnosis and its subset, hypnotherapy, have always been steeped in misconceptions. People either believe them to be bordering on occult, or don’t consider them to be serious scientific endeavours. Following are some of the well known misconceptions about hypnosis and the truth behind them.

Hypnosis has nothing to do with black magic of any kind. Psychology and the other sciences have a crucial role to play in the hypnotic procedure, and it is very simple to acquire and practice. Even people who have seen hypnosis on others often refuse to believe in it. They believe that the subjects who have undergone hypnosis are mentally not powerful enough to resist the influence of the practitioner. But this again is a complete fallacy. Hypnosis can in fact be successfully practised on people who are mentally strong and are trying their best to resist the spell.

That hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness is another misconception that has been circulating for quite some time now. A hypnotized individual is completely aware of his surroundings. During the hypnotic state, the subject relaxes completely and is hence able to concentrate fully on the inputs provided by the practitioner.

Some scientific findings have stated that only about 5% of humanity is suitable to be hypnotized, which is the third misconception on this list. Although, the research has some element of truth to it, what makes it empty is the fact that the scientists made use of the identical hypnosis technique for everyone. One hypnosis technique for all is not a workable solution as different people come under different personality types, and hence are responsive to different methods.

People also tend to equate hypnosis to meditation. However, interaction between the subject and the practitioner is indispensable in hypnosis, while meditation is like an engagement with the self without any communication involved. Trance too has no connection with hypnosis at all. The individual doesn’t interact to achieve a state of trance, while hypnosis is not possible without communication.

A majority of people believe that it is impossible to bring about alterations in one’s appearance and conduct through hypnosis training or hypnotherapy. Hypnosis is clearly not magic that it can transform the physique of an individual just like that. But by mentally conditioning an individual to give up addictive behaviour like overeating and constant smoking, and by raising one’s inspiration levels, hypnosis can usher in significant physical alterations in a person and ensure a healthier body.

If an individual believes in all the misconceptions that exist regarding hypnotherapy and doesn’t venture to participate in a hypnotic session, then he will himself burn the bridge to a happier and healthier life.

Being overweight is becoming more and more common today. There are countless people in most countries who are looking for a safe way to lose weight and then control it. Unfortunately there are a lot of unsafe ways to do this, but these are not recommended. An excellent way to control weight (and lose it initially) is to try weight control hypnosis. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, here are a few things you need to know.

To begin with weight control hypnosis works by changing the way a person behaves. Much of the problems with weight loss are buried within a person’s subconscious. This creates bad habits about food which can be hard to break. Hypnosis tackles these habits and enables a person to break them.

After undergoing hypnosis sessions a person who wants to control their weight will be more likely to want to eat better food. This is not a conscious decision, it will normally just happen and feel totally natural.

Image has much to do with weight control and typically those people who find it hard to control their weight have a poor self image. Hypnosis can alter this and make a person feel much more positive about themselves. This in turn can then lead to them being able to control their weight.

Positive thinking is another factor of successful weight control and hypnosis can teach a person ways to become more positive. This attitude change will then, naturally lead to a more positive view of weight control, which is essential if you are looking to lose weight.

As you can see weight control hypnosis can be a huge help to anyone who wants to lose weight. It is a way to sustain and maintain weight loss in the short and long term with less effort than most other methods and without the need for will power.

Check out more about how you can use weight control hypnosis and finally take control over your weight with hypnosis for weight loss.

You can choose to spend years and thousands of dollars curing a phobia in therapy or you can choose a fast phobia cure that will enable you to live bigger and better than ever. Phobias are fears that we feel are bigger than us, bigger than the solutions, and are often attributed to childhood incidents.

For instance, two little girls get bit by the same dog. One little girl grows up with a dog phobia but the other one ends up owning three dogs and even volunteers for rescue organizations, putting her in the midst of dogs with social problems. What is the difference? The beliefs that were given to each little girl right after the dog bite.

We fear something because we have been taught that being afraid of it would prevent us from experiencing it. We are afraid of water because we are afraid of drowning. If we see water as a death trap we are going to avoid it. If we see it as a fun place to play we might want to experience it. This means the more we fear it the more we will stay away from it.

One of the easiest ways to find a fast phobia cure is to simply change the belief system on which the phobia was built. Fear of fire because you know it can destroy quickly? Education about the causes and preventative measures associated with fires can help you believe that you are safe from fires.

Drunkenness is often up there on the top of the list. But if we believe that the water can get us, our fear will prevent us from ever finding ourselves in that situation, even if our fears are unfounded.

Phobias are not irrational, but an exacerbated fear developed from a belief that is not based in solid fact. Just like the spider might not thrill you, if you know all about her and why she is important you respect her versus fearing her. The same applies to phobias that relate to just about any aspect of life. Changing it is within your own power.

Check out this fast phobia cure that really works, check out the ten minute phobia cure.

The fear of dirt is a phobia which is surprisingly common. Fear of dirt can manifest as an intense fear of something which is not at all dangerous. Adults suffering of this phobia are aware of the fact that there they are not in danger. However they can’t succeed to stop that powerful anxiety. There are some treatments to help you cure the Fear of Dirt.

One of the most common symptoms is excessive sweating and a sensation of detachment from reality. In those moments you might even think that you are about to die. When the panic attack occurs you might feel that you’re losing control over yourself.

Some other signs of the fear of dirt could be the heart palpitation, feeling sick, inability to speak clearly, and shaking. You can also experience some heart palpitations. Whatever signals you pick up with this phobia, once you start to recognize them and act on them, you’re on your way to ridding yourself of this fear.

One of the safest and fastest treatments is the Hypnotherapy. Even so, not a lot of people like the idea of losing control and allowing someone else to play with their subconscious ‘’software”. Hypnotherapy can help find the real reason of your phobia and to cure it. This is why you should give it a try even if you don’t feel comfortable with it.

One of the safest methods for curing the fear of dirt is the Energy Psychology. This therapy has the same foundation as the Acupuncture. The only difference is that in this case there are no needles used. The results will appear very fast and will last for a long time.

You can be a person with a lot of self confidence if you do your best to overcome your phobia. The main thing to do is to admit that you have a problem and to talk about it. Try to open up to your friends and family. Knowing that you are not alone will be a big help.

Fear of diabetes, also called diabetophobia, is an irrational fear of being diagnosed with diabetes. Diabetes is a chronic condition with some serious complications associated with it. While it is normal to have some fear of any bad thing, when a fear becomes irrational and interferes with day to day life it is considered a phobia.

People who suffer with fear of diabetes may have physical reactions at the thought of diabetes and may even manifest some symptoms of the disease thereby reinforcing the irrational fear. The fear of diabetes may be related to fear of diabetes medicines or treatments such as insulin injections. The long term effects of the disease can also be a cause for fear. Blindness, loss of limbs and kidney failure are some diabetes-related conditions that contribute to an irrational fear of diabetes.

Diabetes is quite common and the correct diagnosis is not difficult. Effective treatments eliminate or delay many of the complications that cause a fear of diabetes. Modern treatment options such as insulin pumps can virtually eliminate daily injections that are another cause of fear. Treatment for diabetophobia might begin with convincing the sufferer these facts are true. This takes away or weakens some of the causes of fear.

Modern diagnosis and treatment of diabetes will delay or prevent many of the complications. The fear of insulin self-injections can be eased with insulin pumps. Some of the causes for the irrational fear of diabetes can be eliminated by educating the diabetophobe. Convincing the sufferer that many of the reasons for the fear are ungrounded is a good first step in treatment.

Most phobias respond well to treatments that reprogram the unconscious mind’s fear reactions. Fear of diabetes has been shown to respond well to a combination of education and reprogramming techniques. Some doctors prescribe medication to treat phobias. Most medical professionals believe medication only masks the symptoms and does not treat the causes.

If you are having problems with daily activities because of a fear of diabetes you should consult a professional for a correct diagnosis. A professional can run tests to be sure you do not actually have diabetes and to check for underlying conditions that increase you susceptibility to fear or anxiety problems.

Fear is usually an emotional reaction or response to a threat or an imagined state of being in danger. This feeling will be experienced especially if an individual believes that they are in danger. Psychologists are of the opinion that fear is a particular response to a stimulus such as pain, disease or being under attack. Some will even have the fear of being alone.

People who enjoy being around other people to the extent that they always want to be encircled by them, could be labeled as someone who suffers from the fear of being alone. These people will feel uncomfortable if they are outside the company of others, so they will spend most of their time at social events, trying to get as much attention as possible from loved ones.

Monophobia is another term for this disorder, which causes a number of uncomfortable panic attacks. In addition, these persons may also feel tormented, if their friends mock and ridicule them. Some of their friends may even create situations where they are placed in solitude. This can prove to be harmful for the person suffering with the condition, as the symptoms of the condition can be disturbing.

Low self esteem and low confidence accompanies this condition. Additionally, these persons will experience several abnormalities, when they believe that they are in solitude. For example, abnormal symptoms like nausea, sickness, dry mouth and they will be sweaty. Another symptom is that the heart beat will go faster, which will lead to respiratory problems and temporary speech impediments. Violent attacks of shaking and the lost of psyche are other symptoms that come with monophobia.

In treating people who suffer from the fear of being alone, one may consider taking drugs or prescribed medication to cure the illness. Nevertheless, drugs and medication carries harmful side effects, which could prove to be more dangerous than the condition itself. Also, there is no surety that these drugs will work.

Another method of treating this condition is using self-help NLP, which will help in training the person how to appreciate the importance enjoying their solitude. There are some remarkably effective programs available for this.

The fear of mushrooms is called Mycophobia. The number of confirmed sufferers is relatively small as phobias go but that’s no consolation if you happen to be afflicted with this problem. Most people have a healthy respect for the wild mushroom after childhood training to avoid them. Safety is a valid concern. When the fear of mushrooms becomes irrational and impacts a sufferer’s life the term Mycophobia applies.

Unlike some phobias that interfere with normal life the fear of mushrooms rarely contributes more than a relatively small inconvenience to most people. It is rare that fear of mushrooms causes the incapacitating reaction associated with fear of snakes or spiders… Etc. Those Mycophobics who exist on the more sever end of the scale will certainly disagree. Some people have reported a fear of mushrooms that causes then to scream and freeze at the sight of a wild mushroom close by.

How often do we encounter mushrooms in our daily lives? Most of us cannot even remember when we last saw a mushroom. If we suffered from a fear of mushrooms we would realize there are daily encounters with mushrooms in one form or another. A mushroom can “jump out” in unexpected places and cause an irrational fear reaction. A short walk along a sidewalk beside a mushroom can be nearly impossible to a mycophobe.

A trip to the supermarket will certainly put a fear of mushrooms to the test. If your fear is triggered by the very sight of a mushroom you will have to plan your supermarket trip aisle by aisle to avoid the mushrooms in the produce aisles and, depending on your degree of fear, even the canned vegetables.

A trip to a supermarket requires preplanning. The common locations where mushrooms are encountered must be avoided. Produce aisles and even canned vegetable aisles are approached with caution.

Most Mycophobes lead rather normal lives and manage to disguise their reactions when unexpectedly confronted by a mushroom.

If you are feeling lonesome or sad, cats can sometimes give you a sense of comfort. They will cuddle-up on your lap and stay near you during your gloominess. They are often independent animals so can find their own meals in the wild. While some people may love cats, others still may hate them. Some of the people who hate them usually have a fear of cats. People could have these fears for many different reasons.

1. They could be superstitious. Sometimes superstitions could lead to these irrational fears. People who are superstitious have beliefs that doing or seeing certain things will give them bad luck. Some examples might be walking under a ladder, breaking a mirror, opening an umbrella in the house, or seeing a black cat. These beliefs are all groundless since they cannot influence the type of luck anyone will have.

2. They are unfamiliar with cats. People, who have had no contact with cats throughout their lives, may fear cats because they are unknown to them. The best way to fix this problem is to get to know these feline creatures. They may find that you really enjoy being around cats.

3. They could have a phobia. Having a phobia to cats is referred to as ailurophobia. People with this terror may exhibit irrational fears to cats for unknown reasons. These people usually do not know why they fear cats. They see them as creepy, hairy, terrifying beast, the same way someone else might see spiders. If you know one of these people, you might want to encourage them to seek help since this phobia could impair their everyday life.

4. Another reason that people may dislike cats is that they do not like animals. Sometimes these people could be allergic to animal fur or just not like to be around them. Some of these people may like birds or rabbits but hate cats.

People who have a fear of cats may want to fix this problem by familiarizing themselves better with cats or seeking counseling.

After a panic attack, the victim will sometimes suffer the symptom of tightness in chest. Chest tightness mostly strike patients who have mild and severe levels of anxiety. Many people tend to mistake chest tightness with the onset of a heart attack. However, the former is often less severe and less painful than an actual heart attack.

Many people describe chest tightness as the pressure on the chest cavity area. During this, the patient’s heart beat will begin to quicken and he experiences a shortness of breath. If he does not have the slightest clue what is happening to him, he becomes fraught with fear. Fear is often an accompanying emotional symptom.

Difference between panic tightness and heart attack

Chest tightness arising from panic attacks is always mistaken as heart attacks to the fine distinction between the two. There is however a stark difference in the intensity of the pains. Chest tightness is less threatening to one’s health than a heart attack. Not realising this, the patient may be admitted into a hospital for observation. By the time a doctor sees him his chest tightness and discomfort would have subsided. Knowing the difference between the two will allow one to save time and seek the right kind of treatment.

A heart attack feels more like a crushing and squeezing sensation in the chest, unlike the tightness experienced in an anxiety attack. The pain of a heart attack spreads rapidly to the shoulders, neck and jaw, and feeling lightheaded and faint. These symptoms may not be experienced in a panic attack.

How tightness in the chest happens

Panic attacks occur at the central nervous system when the fight or flight response is triggered. This is the way the body reacts to either real or perceived threats. Once the response takes hold, the victim experiences chest tightness as the brain processes the danger and heightens the anxiety level. This is why some people begin to react frantically even during trivial situations. Help must be sought immediately to help curb these attacks.

Tightness in the chest either lasts throughout the entire span of the anxiety attack or it comes and goes at intervals. The feeling of pain, one that’s similar to being stabbed or pierced in the chest is endured by the victim. This pain then travels to the oesophagus, and the condition is aggravated when one lies on his back.

A cure for chest tightness

Relaxation techniques or meditation can help one suppress chest tightness. Sit yourself down and begin to inhale through your nostrils and exhale through the mouth. Focus your mind on the breathing and do not become distracted with fearful thoughts.

Prescription drugs can help fight the symptoms of panic attacks and alleviate the chest pain. Most victims bring along an inhaler that they can use when their chest tightness acts up.

The best cure is still prevention. Patients who suffer from tightness in the chest by anxiety should always rationalise their fears and try to take control of the predicament. By understanding the root causes of one’s anxiety and seek prompt treatment he too can lead a life of normalcy and freed of anxiety symptoms.
