Empathy and Hypnotherapy
Ok does empathy have a place in hypnotherapy?
Fascinating question as a hypnotherapist practicing hypnotherapy I’ve got a different view on this than others may have.
Well there are a couple of things you can search for when choosing a hypnotherapist Below is a guide on what to ask and look for it isn’t a rule that they must have all only a guide to finding a Hypnotherapist. You’ll potentially find few that fit all of the criteria below and the more you can tick off the better for you.
Many individuals think that all their Problems started from one or two particular events that occurred to them during the past, they point to them and say that’s why I’m the way I am its not my fault. These events can range from things like rape, molestation, physical abuse, beaten etc. The people then will manifest anxiety, panic episodes, depression etc and may try to deal with them by employing drugs, alcohol or other un-useful behaviors. As a hypnotherapist and doing hypnotherapy with clients this is an important thing to grasp and understand.
Hypnotherapy as a method to boost the immune system may be accepted with raised eyebrows because it's a new principle to some people. Some could be doubtful at first, but with the growing popularity of naturalism, an increasing number of individuals are trying this technique of management to boost the immune system and even treat sicknesses.
NLP stands for N – Neuro (neurological processes), L – Linguistic (language), P – Programming (behavioural patterns that have been learned thru experience)
In the last article I talked about in NLP terms sub-modalities. So I thought I should go over this in some detail to clear up what this is before moving on with other topics of interest.
So you booked in for a session with a hypnotherapist and you are wondering what should be expected when you arrive?
There are different approaches to helping people with hypnotherapy the first one is to treat the behavior. This entails the hypnotherapist using numerous scripts that are directed at changing the behavior of a customer only! With out finding out the reason or root cause for this behaviour. Now the scripts used are common and they’re directed at the general population so they aren’t customised to fit the individual needs of the client ie. Preferred communication style (visual, auditory, kinaesthetic or auditory digital), dealing with the root cause of the behavior etc. Due to this, the scripts are also subject to the bell curve, you remember from tests back at college you get graded on a bell curve 50% pass 50% fail etc the peak is in the middle! Well guess what this is the same except it works best for customers in the middle. As you move further out to the sides it works far less. Now this approach also usually includes multiple sessions so you have got to go for anything from 2-6 session to get the result if you get it at all.
So what is trance and Hypnotherapy? Well trance is the changed state in which hypnosis occurs and there are lots of different sorts of trance you go into each day of your life. For example: watching the numbers in a lift go down then when the doors open asking what floor it is, Day dreaming of different things, you drive to work and then cannot remember anything of the trip, watching Television you know how you cant talk to anybody watching the TV and they can not hear you. So Hypnosis feels like, the same as when you have your eyes closed! Its that easy.
